Scottsdale, Arizona – Troon affiliated golf facilities across the United States will participate in the 9/11 Memorial Golf Day on Saturday, September 11th with funds raised benefitting the 9/11 Memorial Golf Fund and its founding charities: the Veteran Golfers Association (VGA), David Feherty’s Troops First, The Semper Fi & America’s Fund, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and The Independence Fund.
Troon is a proud year-round supporter of the Veteran Golf Association and is honored to support these veteran service organizations. The Troon family of brands includes Troon Golf, Troon Privé, Troon International, Honours Golf, OB Sports and Indigo Golf Partners.
The 9/11 Memorial Golf Fund was founded in 2021 by several veteran service organizations, including the VGA, VFW, Semper Fi & America’s Fund, Troops First Foundation, and The Independence Fund, in commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the United States of America. The group’s mission is to collectively impact the veteran communities they serve as much as possible on 9/11 each year through a series of fundraising platforms, including golf tournaments and partner collaboration.
At participating Troon brand-affiliated golf facilities, funds will be raised through various golf tournaments and on-course competitions. Examples of 9/11 Memorial Golf Day programs at Troon-affiliated facilities (both public and private) on September 11th include:
Esplanade Golf & Country Club of Naples in Naples, Fla. – Will be conducting a Par 3 – Beat The Pro Challenge and will accept wagers of $5 to $20. Anyone who hits their tee shot closer than the pro will receive double their wager in golf shop credit, while funds will be donated to the 9/11 Memorial Golf Fund.
Indian Wells Golf Resort in Indian Wells, Calif. – Will donate a portion of the spectator cart rental fee from several upcoming events. The club’s VUE Grille and Bar will also have opportunities for guests to donate throughout the 9/11 memorial weekend.
Princeville Makai Golf Club, Princeville, Kauai, Hawaii – $10 from every green fee from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on 9/11 will be donated to the 9/11 Memorial Fund. In addition, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. a Princeville Makai golf professional will lead an on-course “Hit The Green” competition with a $5 minimum donation. All participants will receive a 20% off golf shop merchandise voucher. Prizes for those who hit the green include Callaway merchandise.
“It is hard to believe this year marks the 20th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks,” said Mike Ryan, chief operating officer, Troon. “9/11 Memorial Golf Day is a golf industry-wide fundraiser that we are pleased to support. Funds raised will help these incredible veterans’ organizations execute their missions of honoring the sacrifices and memory of our military members killed or disabled while serving our country since 9/11.”
Golfers and non-golfers alike can support the 9/11 Memorial Golf Fund by texting “911Golf” to 91999 to make a $9.11 donation.
