Wayne Soares Military Golf Classic tees off October 12

The 3rd annual Wayne Soares Military Golf Classic, scheduled Tuesday October 12 at Willowbend Club, will again benefit homeless and disabled veterans, including an extraordinary celebrity field.

MASHPEE, Mass – The 3rd Annual Wayne Soares Military Golf Classic To Benefit Homeless & Disabled Veterans will take place on Tuesday, October 12th at 11 a.m. at Willowbend Country Club on Cape Cod.

Wayne Soares is an actor, author, inspirational speaker and former ESPN radio host who travels the globe entertaining men and women in the United States Military. His latest project is a television documentary on Vietnam Veterans titled “Every Time the Wind Blew.” Soares is also active with RallyPoint – the nation’s largest online support network for active military and veterans.

“We are thrilled to be sold out again and to be partnering with Soldier On and The Cape & Islands Veterans Outreach Center this year,” said Soares, who co-hosts the annual fundraiser with his daughter Jessie.

There will also be a couple of surprises including a an exact replica of a Huey Helicopter that was flown in Vietnam on display, compliments of the VFW in Plymouth, MA. Celebrities participating this year will be Boston Red Sox Hall of Famers Rico Petrocelli & Bill Lee, New England Patriots Hall of Famer Steve Nelson, 1984 Hockey Olympian Dave Jensen, NESN host Jayme Parker, CBS College Basketball Analyst Pete Gillen, WCVB-CH 5 former anchor Natalie Jacobson, New York Ranger Hall of Famer Nicky Fotiu, former Jacksonville Jaguars star Tom McManus and 1980 Olympic hockey star Mike Eruzione.

“Wayne and Jessie run a first-class tournament,” said Petrocelli. “I’m happy to be here to support our veterans.”

There will be a Kickoff Reception on October 11th with celebrities and sponsors with Brigadier General Don Bolduc, U.S Army Ret., as the guest speaker. A portion of the tournament’s proceeds will also go to The Wayne & Jessie Soares Veterans Wheelchair and Meals Project, which distributed over (100) wheelchairs & walkers and (700) meals last year.

“At the end of the day, it’s all about helping our veterans and bringing a little bit of kindness their way,” said co-host Jessie Soares.
