Shawn Warren /Jeff Seavey capture New England PGA Senior-Junior Championship

Shawn Warren and Jeff Seavey, teamed up to shoot a sizzling 10-under par 60 to win the New England Senior-Junior Championship on June 22 at Wanumetonomy Golf & Country Club.

MIDDLETOWN, Rhode Island – A bogey on the third hole is all that stood between the duo of Shawn Warren, of Falmouth Country Club (Maine) and Jeff Seavey, of Goose River Golf Club (Vermont) and a 59 on Monday June 22 at the New England PGA Senior-Junior Championship at Wanumetonomy Golf & Country Club, as the two cruised to a four-shot victory.

Warren & Seavey combined for 11 birdies to post 10-under par 60 in the four-ball stroke play Championship. Six of those birdies came on the back-nine as the pair shot 29 on the back side. With just one par-5 on the course, the duo relied on strong iron play and great putting to pick up the win.

“I had the putter rolling,” Seavey said. “On a lot of holes we had two putts for birdie. I stoned it a couple times to two or three feet and a few other times Shawn would hit it to eight feet, I’d hit it to 12 and make the putt and he would pick up. On the holes when I did hit it in the woods he was knocking it on the green and either making birdie or making par.”

“On the back Jeff just kept on making putts,” Warren added. “There was no secret to it. Any chance he had to get a good roll at it he just hit a ton of good putts and we were fortunate that they were falling.”

2019 NEPGA Senior-Junior champions Chip Johnson, of Hatherly CC and Liam Friedman, of Nashawtuc CC tied for second at 6-under par 64 with eight birdies and two bogeys.

They added two more birdies and a bogey on the back to post 6-under par 64 and join the tie for second, along with Brenden Mitchell, of The Country Club and Robert Tramonti, of Triggs Memorial GC, who combined for seven birdies and just one bogey.
