Rich Berberian/Griffen Brown capture New England PGA Pro-Am

Vesper Country Club pro Rich Berberian teamed up with amateur Griffen Brown to post an impressive 36-hole total 14-under par at Pinehill's Nicklaus & Jones courses to win the 2020 New England PGA Pro-Am Championship Monday July 13.

PLYMOUTH, Mass. – Rich Berberian, of Vesper Country Club, and amateur partner Griffin Brown put together a dominant second-round enroute to winning the 36-hole New England PGA Pro-Am Championship at Pinehills Golf Club’s Nicklaus and Jones Courses on Monday July 13.

Berberian, the 2016 PGA Professional player-of-the-year, and Brown set the tone early with a 5-under par 67, sitting three strokes behind the lead after the first round. The pair caught fire on the Jones Course in the second round, riding eight birdies and an eagle to a 9-under par round 63, to finish a sensational 14-under par for the day, two clear of their closest competitors.

Jeff Seavey, of Goose River Golf Club, and Cole Anderson came up two-strokes short of a three-peat, finishing 12-under par. The duo jumped out to a tie for the first-round lead, shooting 8-under par 64 in the opening round on the Nicklaus course, and shot 68 on the Jones Course in the afternoon to finish tied for second.

Liam Friedman, of Nashawtuc Country Club, and Garth McGee joined Seavey and Anderson in the tie for second with rounds of 67-65.

Pinehills in Plymouth hosted 80 New England PGA pros and 80 amateurs in the 2020 edition of the New England PGA Pro-Am Championship won by Vesper Country Club pro Rich Berberian and amateur Griffen Brown with a sensational 14-under par total.

Three teams tired for fourth at 10-under par. First-round co-leaders Tommy Lucko, of Winchester Country Club, and amateur partner Brendan Monahan finished 10-under par after opening with an 8-under 64 on the Jones Course. For the day, the pair made eight birdies and an eagle with no bogeys on the scorecard.

The Belmont Country Club team of Matt Zdon and Glen Sutton joined the Wollaston Golf Club pair of Jeff Martin and Ernie McAlister in the tie for 4th at 10-under.
