GREENSBORO, Georgia – A golf vacation at Reynolds Lake Oconee features seven truly distinctive championship golf experiences in one location. The golf combines variety, challenge and breathtaking views of Lake Oconee perfectly captures the spirit of each course’s architect. These world-renowned designers have each placed their own touch on golf at Reynolds Lake Oconee, molding their passion and love of the game into every fairway, bunker and green.
Richland, the seventh course at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Georgia, was officially opened for play last fall.
The new 18-hole layout was created by acclaimed course architect Tom Fazio by combining nine holes from his existing National course with nine all-new holes. The round starts on the original Bluff nine – with some modifications – on the first nine holes before taking players on a voyage over nine new holes, from 6 through 14, before finishing on the Bluff over the last four. The new holes are located on a hilly peninsula and are characterized by fescue-lined fairways (where stray shots can be lost), strategically placed bunkers and spectacular elevation changes. The topography as well as the gleaming white bunkers offer some resemblance to Augusta National, located about 90 minutes down I-20.

“My goal is always to create distinctive, one-of-a-kind golf courses,” says Fazio. “There’s a lot of terrain variation—lots of ups and downs, ins and outs, twists and turns—which is great for golf. That’s what makes this such a fine natural setting.” Fazio adds, “Members will enjoy this golf course because it has character and will never play the same. This new course will provide a challenge and have endless possibilities for a fun and captivating golf experience.”
Reynolds Lake Oconee’s golf offering now includes seven 18-hole tracks: The private Richland and Creek Club as well as the public accessible The National, Great Waters, The Oconee, The Preserve and The Landing.
Guests can stay at the über-luxurious The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee, a 257-room lakefront resort and spa that is among the best golf resorts in the Southeast.
