PGA TOUR Superstore Opens February 2 with $30,000 Merchandise Giveaway

PGA TOUR Superstore is opening its first New England store at the North Shore Mall in Peabody on Saturday February 2 at 9 a.m. giving away $30,000 worth of merchandise to the first customers who visit.

BOSTON, Mass – Super Bowl weekend is here and that means another New England Patriots team will be displaying their football prowess in front of 50 million viewers, for an unprecedented 9th time in the last 18 years. But, something else really big is happening this weekend.

Hint: It concerns an outdoor sport that’s a four-letter word beginning with “g” and ending with “f.”

Did you guess right? Wow! What a brilliant audience. Is it ever too early to start thinking about “golf” even though the season is hopefully about eight weeks away?

There is good news on top of good news for golf enthusiasts.

First, the country’s leading golf retailer – PGA TOUR Superstore – is opening up a 45,000 sq. ft. mega-store at the old Toys-R-Us location in the North Shore Mall in Peabody on Saturday February 2.

Second, as a PGA TOUR Superstore tradition at all its grand openings (35 to be exact) they are giving away $30,000 worth of “Free Stuff” to the first customers who visit when the store opens at 9 a.m. Saturday. The merchandise giveaway includes equipment, clothes and products from all the major golf manufacturers such as Callaway, Wilson, Mizuno, Cobra, TaylorMade, Tour Edge, Cleveland, Odyssey and Ping.

The grand opening of New England’s first PGA TOUR Superstore in Peabody will give away $30,000 of free merchandise to the first customers who visit at 9 a.m. Saturday February 2.

PGA TOUR Superstore is the dominant player in the golf retail industry and has announced plans to open six new stores in 2019, including a Braintree location scheduled to open in June. The company operates 35 stores in 15 states across the United States.

PGA TOUR Superstore President Dick Sullivan is a native of Needham who went to school with Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker way, way back. Sullivan, who lives in Atlanta, has an impressive resume showing a stint at Home Depot, where he served as Chief Marketing Officer, during a time when the company showed unapparelled growth.

“We have tripled our store count across the United States over the last several years and will continue to invest in our brick-and-mortar business,” said the amiable Dick Sullivan, President & CEO, in an exclusive interview at the PGA Show in Orlando January 23. “Our innovative retail model and our focus on integrating and investing in our e-commerce business is resonating with our customers. Last year we served over 7.5 million happy customers and this year that number will rise.”

Sullivan said the company posted an overall sales growth of 14 percent in 2018, fueled by strong store sales and double-digit e-commerce growth. He said the multiple store markets include Atlanta (3), Chicago (3), Dallas (3), Phoenix (3), Orlando (2), Houston (2) Myrtle Beach (2). Other locations opening in 2019 include Miami, Sarasota, Austin and Denver.

At the new Peabody store expect to find a 1,470 sq. ft. putting green, 7 high-tech simulators, an indoor driving range, free custom fittings, in-house club repair and all the latest 2019 golf equipment and products.

Inside the Peabody PGA TOUR Superstore, golf enthusiasts of all levels can experience in-house custom club fittings and repair, along with lessons from certified teaching professionals. Seven practice hitting bays with high-tech swing analysis software, interactive simulators and expansive 1,470 sq. ft. putting green.

PGA TOUR Superstore says its committed to inspiring people to play their best and grow the game of golf. They will host free Kids Zone clinics each month, along with a Get Golf Ready Ladies Program and virtual nine-hole leagues on in-store simulators.
