LINCOLN, Rhode Island – Greg Farland rolled in a 15-foot birdie putt on the 25th hole to boost he and partner Kirk Hanefeld into the New England PGA Pro-Pro Match Play Championship semifinals on May 14 at Kirkbrae Country Club. The duo forced extra holes by winning the 18th over Brendon Ray and Jacob Leech in the quarterfinal, then needed seven extra holes to break the tie.
Farland & Hanefeld will face Brendon Mitchell and Mike Haas-Zanghi in the semifinal on Wednesday morning. Haas-Zanghi and Mitchell beat David Wilson and David Donnellan 3&1 in Tuesday’s quarterfinal.
The other semifinal match on Wednesday morning will be between four-time defending NEPGA Pro-Pro Match Play champions Jeff Martin & Troy Pare and John Hickson & Thomas Tobey. Martin & Pare, the top seed, advanced after a 2&1 quarterfinal victory over John Paesani & Greg Yeomans. Meanwhile, Hickson & Tobey had the quickest win on Tuesday, finishing off Robert Tramonto & Brian Owens 5&4.
With a five-hour weather delay because of rain in the area, the semifinal matches, originally scheduled for may 14, have been pushed to May 15 at 8:00 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. The Championship match will immediately follow the semifinals on Wednesday.

Brenden Mitchell (The Country Club) & Mike Haas-Zanghi (Nonesuch River GC) defeated David Wilson (Hyannisport Club) & David Donellan (Hyannis GC), 3 & 1.
