David Jankowski captures New England PGA Series 3

QUINCY, Mass. – David Jankowski, of Burlington Country Club, posted a 6-under par 64 at Presidents Golf Club to claim victory in the third New England PGA Stroke Play Series event Tuesday July 6.

Jankowski’s victory marks the first solo win of the season for the Vermont-native. He is having a good summer so far having claimed a share of the Pro-Am Championship earlier this season at Agawam Hunt and Ledgemont Country Club.

Jankowski’s 64 came with four birdies on the front nine, on No. 3, 5, 7, and 9. After making the turn at 31, Jankowski kept the card clean and added birdies on No. 15 and 16 to push the score to 6-under.

Patrick Kowker, of Portland Country Club, finished one shot behind Jankowski to finish solo second. The Maine professional made the turn at even-par before catching fire on the back. Kowker birdied No. 12 and eagled No. 15 before adding birdies on No. 16 and 17 to card a five-under 31 on the back side. The Portland CC pro played the par 5s at 5-under to power his round.

Matt Arvanitis, of Southern New Hampshire University, continued his strong play in 2021 with a 4-under 66 to grab a share of third place. He posted three birdies on each side of the golf course and carded nines of 32 and 34 for 66. John Fields, of Belmont Country Club, posted consecutive 33s on the front and back to finish T-3.

Fields claimed the Senior Division crown with his 66, edging Ed Kirby and John Hickson at 3-under.

Fifteen more players finished the day under par in favorable scoring conditions at President’s GC. Four players grabbed a share of fifth at three under: Jim Clay (New Seabury on Cape Cod), John Hickson (Cape Neddick CC), Ed Kirby (The Aquidneck Club), and Jeff Martin (Wollaston GC).

Ed Kirby had an interesting day carding a 3-over 37 on the front before recording birdies on No. 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, and 18 for a back-nine 30 and 67 total.
