Hey football fans, opps, my mistake, I mean golf aficionados. This is a reminder that it’s Presidents Cup week and one final weekend to watch Scottie Scheffler and some of the world’s finest players from the U.S. compete against a team of International players, who have won exactly one match in 15 exhibitions since the inaugural event in 1994.
The 2026 Presidents Cup will compete at Medinah Country Club September 24-27, just outside Chicago, and while the area will become the center of the golf world, some of the region’s leading golf content creators will get an opportunity to join the competition.
Golf VX in Arlington Height, Illinois, a cutting-edge indoor golf experience with 12 advanced simulators, will host the inaugural Creator Cup on Thursday, September 24. The invitational team event will feature 44 Chicago-area golf creators divided among 11 teams.
The Creator Cup will take place on the opening day of the 2026 Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club, providing a showcase for Chicago’s golf community during one of the most significant weeks on the local golf calendar.
Each Creator Cup captain will build a four-person team through a live draft. The teams will then compete inside Golf VX’s simulator bays, combining competition with content creation and hospitality.
“The Presidents Cup presents an incredible opportunity to celebrate golf in Chicago, and we wanted to create an event that brings together the people helping shape how the game is experienced and shared locally,” said Golf VX founder and CEO Kyu Choi in a press release. “The Creator Cup will combine spirited competition with the energy and camaraderie that define the Chicago golf community, all within an environment designed for exceptional golf and hospitality.”
Golf VX is presenting the event in partnership with The 312 Invitational, whose name recognizes Chicago’s original 312 area code. Organizers plan to announce the team captains, participating creators, draft results and competition format ahead of the event.
Beyond the competition, the Creator Cup will demonstrate how indoor golf venues can accommodate larger tournaments, corporate outings and private gatherings.
The Golf VX Arlington Heights facility combines simulator golf with food, beverages and social gathering spaces. Its simulator technology includes high-speed ball tracking, automatic teeing and swing plates that adjust to recreate uphill, downhill and uneven lies. Players can also access detailed swing and ball-flight information during practice and competitive rounds.
Golf VX launched its flagship Chicago-area lounge in 2024. Its simulators offer access to more than 380 virtual golf courses and are designed to support casual golf, instruction, practice, leagues and tournament play.
While the Presidents Cup will match the United States against an International Team at Medinah, the Creator Cup will shine a spotlight on another part of Chicago golf: the local personalities producing videos, podcasts, social media posts and other content that connects area golfers throughout the year.
