Chubb Classic is Champions Tour Longest-Running Event

The Chubb Classic, which tees off February 16-18 at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, is the Champions Tour longest running tournament celebrating its 37th year.

NAPLES, Florida – The 2023 Chubb Classic presented by SERVPRO celebrated several milestones and record-breaking moments as the PGA TOUR Champions’ flagship event in the greater Naples community:

  • The 2023 tournament marked Chubb’s 25th year as title sponsor, making it the longest-running continuous title sponsor on the PGA TOUR Champions schedule.
  • The 2023 tournament was the 36th year of the championship, continuing its run as the longest-running PGA TOUR Champions event to take place in the same metropolitan area.
  • Bernhard Langer captured his 45th PGA TOUR Champions win at the Chubb Classic in 2023 – his second consecutive Chubb Classic and fifth overall, tying Hale Irwin’s record for the most all-time victories on PGA TOUR Champions.

The Chubb Classic has been held in Naples since 1988 featuring stars from the PGA TOUR Champions competing over 54 holes for a share of $1.8 million in prize money.

As a result of these milestones, as well as the elevated fan, player and sponsor experiences throughout tournament week, the 2023 Chubb Classic was the recipient of the PGA TOUR Champions Outstanding Achievement Award, presented annually to one PGA TOUR Champions event. The award was announced in December at the PGA TOUR annual meetings in Palm Springs, Calif.

“PGA Tour Champions has a long and cherished history in the greater Naples community, and we are thankful for the PGA Tour Champions, Chubb and ServePro’s continued partnership in delivering a world-class event for players and spectators,” said Sandy Diamond, Chubb Classic Executive Director. “This tournament has been able to give back millions to charitable organizations throughout Southwest Florida from this amazing partnership. We are humbled by this honor and recognition from the PGA Tour, and we look forward to another first-class Chubb Classic tournament.”

Tiburón Golf Club, managed by Troon, is the only facility to host a PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR Champions and LPGA Tour event in the same calendar year, features two 18-hole Championship golf courses, The Gold and The Black. The Black Course, which opened in 2001, has a very distinctive look with its pine straw-lined fairways, crushed coquina waste areas and undulating greens nestled amidst acres of pine trees and native Florida foliage. The Black Course is designated as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary by Audubon International to protect and enhance its natural surroundings.
