Champions Tour Chubb Classic takes center stage Feb. 14-16

The Champions Tour longest running event - The Chubb Classic - at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples tees off February 14-16 with another star-studded 78-player field.

NAPLES, Florida – With former World No. 1 and two-time Chubb Classic champion Fred Couples and fellow PGA TOUR Champions winners Alex Cejka, Jerry Kelly and Rocco Mediate headlining the field, along with major champions, Hall of Famers, and Legends of the game, this year’s Chubb Classic has all the ingredients to be a memorable weekend.

Taking place Feb. 14-16 at Tiburón Golf Club’s Black Course, the Chubb Classic is Naples’ flagship PGA TOUR Champions event, now entering its 38th year.

Three World Golf Hall-of-Fame members will tee it up in Naples next week, including Couples, Ernie Els and five-time Chubb Classic champion Bernhard Langer. The field also features eight past champions, including defending champion Stephen Ames, Langer, two-time winners Couples and Kirk Triplett, and winners Scott Parel, Joe Durant, Lee Janzen and Steve Stricker.

The purse for 78-player Chubb Classic field is $1.8 million with winner pocketing $270,000.

The “star studded” field includes: 50 PGA TOUR winners, 11 major champions on the PGA TOUR, 17 major champions on the PGA TOUR Champions, 44 PGA TOUR Champions winners, 4 former World No.1 players, and 8 past Chubb Classic Winners.

Competing as sponsor exemptions include Calusa Pines Director of Golf Mike Balliet, PGA TOUR Champions professional Mike Muehr, 2020 Chubb Classic winner Scott Parel and PGA TOUR Champions winners Dicky Pride and Brett Quigley. The final three spots will be determined by a Qualifier at The Forest Country Club in Fort Myers.

“With the Chubb Classic once again kicking off the PGA TOUR Champions domestic schedule for the 2025 season, we are excited to welcome an elite field back to Naples and Tiburón Golf Club for the 38th annual Chubb Classic presented by SERVPRO,” said Sandy Diamond, executive director of the Chubb Classic.

The Chubb Classic features a 78-player field competing in the 54-hole championship Friday-Sunday, Feb. 14-16, for a share of the $1.8 million purse. GOLF Channel will televise all three rounds of play live.

Ernie Els is coming off a big year in 2024 on the Champions Tour and considered a favorite to win.

Complimentary admission to the 2025 Chubb Classic presented by SERVPRO will be offered to all military personnel (active, retired, reserve and veteran), service personnel (police, fire, EMS) and front-line healthcare workers (doctors and nurses) and a plus-one, courtesy of SERVPRO.

A portion of the ticket proceeds will be donated to local charities throughout Southwest Florida. The Chubb Classic supports more than 30 charitable organizations since the tournament’s inception in 1988, making this event the longest running in Champions Tour history.

The Golf Channel will broadcast Friday’s first-round coverage from 12 noon to 3 p.m. while Saturday’s second round and Sunday’s final round will both be televised from 3 to 5:30 p.m.
