PALM HARBOUR, Florida – Last year’s Valspar Championship winner Peter Malnati plays a yellow Titleist Pro V1x. The reason is because two years ago his son, Hatcher, had a fascination with yellow balls. Peter right then started playing a yellow ball. Hatcher, who is now five, could care less about yellow balls, but Peter still plays them because they remind him of Hatcher and that makes him smile.
His mother, Donna, also likes the yellow ball because she can easily tell which ball is her son’s. Donna added she hopefully can find the yellow ball most rounds in fairways and on greens. She was very disappointed with Peter’s drives in the first round of this year’s tournament since Peter shot a 2-over 73. He missed all 13 fairways, the first player to miss every fairway in a round at the Valspar Championship since 2000.
After the first round of the 2025 Valspar Championship, which was Peter Malnati Appreciation Day, one lucky little boy was given a Peter Malnati autographed ball- -yellow of course.
