CANTON, Mass – Topgolf continues expansion with the opening of new venues across the globe which now number 84 locations with over 20 million players annually visiting the golf-centric entertainment state-of-the-art facilities.
Rejoice Boston area sports fans the wait is over and we will soon be able to join in the fun.
“We get asked all the time when we’re bringing a Topgolf to the Boston area, so we couldn’t be happier to finally have an answer to that question,” said Topgolf Chief Development Officer Chris Callaway. “We’re thrilled at the opportunity to join the Canton community and can’t thank the town enough for their support along the way.”
The new complex is located along Dedham Street and I-95 approximately 20 miles southwest of downtown Boston. The venue has been redeveloped at the former Cumberland Farms manufacturing and distribution facility. Construction has seen a few delays and now looks to be on target for an anticipated opening in late 2023.
The property at 777 Dedham Street first caught the attention of Topgolf Callaway Brands Corp officials back in 2015. Three years later, the town of Canton showed a commitment to the project by creating new zoning that specifically allowed for the development of an indoor/outdoor golf facility on the 10-acre site.
Eager to move forward, Topgolf would encounter repeated delays tied to the Dedham Street improvement project — a series of infrastructure upgrades spearheaded by MassDOT — but momentum picked up again in 2021 and Topgolf was finally able to break ground this past fall.
In addition to point-scoring golf games, Players will also be entertained by the venue’s chef-inspired menu items, top-shelf drinks, music, rooftop terrace, outdoor patio and year-round, family-friendly programs. When completed, the state-of-the-art entertainment complex will feature over 90 climate-controlled hitting bays on three floors, a large sports bar and restaurant, private event spaces, a 28-foot video wall and hundreds of HDTVs.
Unlike a traditional golf driving range, Topgolf promises a completely unique “golf entertainment experience,” powered by the company’s Toptracer technology that allows players to track their ball’s speed, distance, curve and height as they take aim at the large outfield targets. Points are tracked automatically and players can choose from more than a dozen different games that are rated based on difficulty from beginner to advanced.
The business will be known as Topgolf Boston – Canton and will be the first of its kind in Massachusetts and one of only two in the New England region along with the soon-to-be-completed Topgolf in Cranston, Rhode Island.
