PXG – GEN6 Driver

PXG, one of golf's leading club manufacturers, has launched a new series of clubs called the GEN6 with special calibrations in its driver.

ORLANDO, Florida – PXG has introduced the new 0311 GEN6 club family which includes fairway woods, hybrids, irons and two driver models which in company testing shows the lowest amount of tee ball dispersion compared with major competitors.

PXG is pushing the new 0311 GEN6 drivers as having significantly lower tee shot dispersion than all their competitors. This however doesn’t strike some as a big selling point since drivers are all about hitting it hard and then going to find it wherever it winds up. Admittedly though their comparative testing also shows the GEN6 drivers are as long as most others and having inherently lower dispersion in the final analysis may be something worth considering.

The other GEN6 driver feature PXG is talking about is the forgiveness, enhanced in both models by the location of the sole weights with a range of weights available to fit the head characteristics to the user. In addition to the three that come with the driver others may be purchased: 5g, 10g, 12.5g, 15g, 17.5g, and 20g to adjust the overall head weight.

The traditional tear drop shaped regular model produces a mid-spin launch and has a fairly sharply curved crown, is shorter than the XF front to back featuring a tall face designed for forgiveness.

PXG has continued the reversal of their former ultra-premium pricing. The GEN6 drivers are $100 less than the Callaway Paradym and TaylorMade Stealth 2 and $50 under the Ping G430. As we pointed out previously their previous pricing meant a full bag of PXG woods and irons could cost $5,000 or more. However recently that has changed. A bag of 0311 GEN6 clubs: 1-driver, 2-fairway woods, 1-hybrid and 8-irons comes in at $3,139. Quite a difference.
