PGA TOUR Superstore Grand Opening June 1 in Braintree

BRAINTREE, Mass — PGA Tour Superstore, one of the nation’s largest golf and tennis retailers, is opening its second Massachusetts store Saturday June 1.

Located adjacent to the infamous “Braintree Split” (about 10 miles south of Boston) in the former home of “Toys R Us” in the Braintree Marketplace on Grossman Drive in Braintree, the doors open at 9 a.m.

As part of its grand opening celebration, the store will be giving away $30,000 in merchandise and services to its first customers in line. Among the giveaways are sets of irons, drivers, wedges and putters. Other prizes include club fittings, lessons, apparel, footwear and accessories.

Avid golfers south of Boston now have a place to shop and get lessons with the help of card-carrying PGA professionals. The Braintree store will be managed by golf industry veteran Kevin Cullivan and includes a 1,600-square foot putting green, four fitting simulators, five hitting bays, simulators, clubs, apparel, accessories, and more.

“Our ‘customer-experience’ mentality is our single best differentiator and is unmatched in the golf retail business,” CEO Dick Sullivan said. “Combine that with our professional expertise, interactive environment and everything needed to play, we inspire beginners to avid golfers to have fun and enjoy the game.”

Part of a nationwide chain of 40 stores, the PGA Tour Superstore provides customers with an interactive experience. The store also features high-tech interactive simulators as well as custom fitting and repairs. The stores offer lessons from certified teaching pros in addition to a full range of equipment and apparel.

“We inspire beginners to avid golfers to have fun and enjoy the game,” said Dick Sullivan, the chain’s president and CEO.

The chain, which also has a store in Peabody, plans to expand to 50 stores by the end of next year, Sullivan said.
