CVS HEALTH CHARITY CLASSIC RETURNS JUNE 24

CVS Health President and CEO, Larry Merlo (center), flanked by Co-hosts Brad Faxon (l) & Billy Andrade, announced that last year’s donation of $1 million will support nearly 80 area nonprofit organizations across Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts, bringing the total amount donated over the last two decades to more than $22 million.

WOONSOCKET, RHODE ISLAND – Some of the biggest names in golf come to Rhode Island when the CVS Health Charity Classic Event Series returns June 20 – 24. The CVS Health Charity Classic continues to be the largest charitable event in Rhode Island, donating more than $22 million to nonprofits across Southern New England since 1999.

“We are proud to celebrate 21 years of giving back to the local community through the efforts of the CVS Health Charity Classic,” said Larry Merlo, President & CEO of CVS Health. “The continued dedication of our supplier partners, Crave RI partners, and the professional golfers who take time out of their season to give back is always humbling to experience.”

This year’s golf tournament format will continue the one-day style tournament featuring 18 of the nation’s top golfers. On Monday, June 24, six PGA TOUR, six PGA TOUR Champions and six LPGA Tour professionals will hit the greens of Rhode Island Country Club in teams of three. Each team will consist of one player from each respective Tour. The top two scores from each hole per team will be counted toward its final score. The team with the lowest score at the end of 18 holes will be named the Champions of the 2019 Charity Classic.

Team pairings will be released via the CVS Health Charity Classic social media platforms as the event draws closer. Golf pros joining the tournament Co-Hosts, Brad Faxon and Billy Andrade will be fan favorites Keegan Bradley, Morgan Pressel, Billy Horschel, and Lydia Ko. Newcomers Max Homa and Darren Clarke will also be competing in their first CVS Health Charity Classic.

The CVS Health Charity Classic Event Series will also include:

· Crave RI – Kicking off the 2019 event series, this two-day, family-friendly culinary celebration featuring Rhode Island’s finest will include 100 restaurants and more than 150 beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverage profiles. The food festival will return to the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in the heart of Providence on June 20 and 21. Enjoy sample tastings from: Red Fin Crudo + Kitchen, Anchor Toffee, Hometown Café & Poke Bar, Newport Vineyards and many more. All proceeds from the event will support charitable organizations across Southern New England. · Pepsi Celebrity Pro-Am – The Charity Classic has once again partnered with New England sports teams to bring celebrity athletes to the Charity Classic. The Bruins, Celtics, Patriots and Red Sox will all be represented at the Pepsi Celebrity Pro-Am on Sunday, June 23 at Rhode Island Country Club. You can expect to see Rob Ninkovich and Joe Andruzzi from the New England Patriots and Derek Lowe of the Boston Red Sox. Admission to this event is free.

Single day tickets for the 2019 CVS Health Charity Classic are now on sale at ticketmaster.com/CharityClassic for $20 each. Children 12 and under are free with a ticketed adult. The CVS Health Charity Classic is honoring veterans by offering complimentary admission to for all active duty, reserve and retired Military Service Members and their dependents. Veterans simply present a valid Common Access Card or Retired Military Card at the gate. First responders and their families also receive free admission with a valid ID.
