KISSIMMEE, Florida. – If you like golf and follow the game more than occasional televised weekend pro golf tournaments, then you’ve probably heard of Billy Casper Golf.
Billy Casper Golf is one of the largest privately-owned golf course management companies in the United States. The company was founded in 1989 by the late PGA TOUR legend Billy Casper along with business partners Peter Hill and Bob Morris.
The company is headquartered in Reston, Virginia and is the owner-operator of more than 150 golf courses, country clubs and resorts in 29 states. The company specializes in full-service course management as well as assistance in specific segments of the golf business, including course and property maintenance, staffing and training, career growth, clubhouse operations, food and beverage, merchandising, golf instruction, marketing and public relations, special events and financial management.
This week Billy Casper Golf celebrated its 30th anniversary with an event at Reunion Resort (Kissimmee, Fla.) with honoring its roughly 7,000 employees nationwide.
Chairman & CEO Peter Hill began the celebration by sharing his special journey into the golf industry, as well as BCG’s evolution, with nearly 400 corporate and field employees in attendance. Morris subsequently welcomed special guest Shirley Casper and presented her with the inaugural Founder’s Award. In turn, she shared her gratitude to those carrying on her husband’s legacy and received a congratulatory and heartfelt video message from Barbara and Jack Nicklaus.
The program transitioned into an energetic “State of the Golf Industry” panel moderated by Hill. Seth Waugh (CEO, PGA of America), Erik Anderson (Executive Chairman, Topgolf) and John Watson (Executive Chairman, Buffalo.Agency) shared their insights about the future of golf operations, entertainment and overall growth of the game.
“It’s the collective responsibility of everyone working in golf to leave this industry and business better than we found it,” says Hill, who steers BCG program-development aimed at introducing tens of thousands of golfers to the game and inspiring lapsed golfers to return each year. “The pace of change around us is unprecedented and disruptive, but we must prevail with contemporary strategies and tactics, never losing sight of exceeding member and guest expectations.”
Holding one of the most prolific playing records in history, Billy Casper won 51 PGA TOUR titles, including at least one in 16 consecutive years (1956 to 1971). He also amassed more Ryder Cup points (23.5) than any other American and five Vardon Trophies before being inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1978.
“Molded by Billy Casper, our company is rich in integrity, tireless work ethic and commitment to help others,” said Morris. “These principles provide us with the foundation to advance our courses’ businesses, charitable initiatives and golf platforms nationwide.”
The celebration also included Ryan Berman, author of “Return on Courage: A Playbook for Courageous Change,” who delivered an inspiring session about the importance of taking risks and driving courageous change in the ever-changing golf landscape.
If you didn’t know it, now you do. Billy Casper Golf is and will continue to be a major player in the golf industry. One of their original and innovative programs includes the annual World’s Largest Golf Outing, a national golf fundraiser.
