
NAPLES, Florida – The cream of the crop of the LPGA tees off this week in the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship at Tiburon Golf Club. Limited to the top 60 players the purse will increase to a record $11 million, with $4 million to the winner, and second-place will increase to $1 million.
Last year, Jeeno Thitikul finished eagle-birdie on the final two holes helping her secure victory, finishing at 22-under par to claim her fourth LPGA Tour title and the historic $4 million winner’s check, the largest first-place prize in women’s golf. Additionally, every player in the field will be awarded at least $55,000.

This event started in 2014 when the LPGA Tour introduced a season-long points race, the Race to the CME Globe, and a $1 million bonus. The title sponsor is the CME Group, a global derivatives marketplace based in Chicago. The first tournament was played in November 2011 at Grand Cypress Golf Club in Orlando, Florida, which had hosted the 2010 LPGA Tour Championship. In 2012, the tournament moved to the Eagle Course of the Twin Eagles Club, in Naples, Florida. Since 2013, it has been played in Naples at the Gold Course of the Tiburón Golf Club.

Tiburón Golf Club is a golf club located in Naples and has two courses, Gold and Black, both designed by Greg Norman. The Gold Course hosts the annual the Grant Thornton Invitational scheduled Dec. 12-14, which is a 16-team event featuring one PGA Tour and one LPGA Tour golfer on each team.The Black Course hosts the Chubb Classic, a Champions Tour Event held in February.
