CLEARWATER, Florida – With an amazing, crazy, improbable, and awesome revival to his professional career on the PGA Champions Tour, Jason Caron was the top points scorer in the Skechers World Champions Cup supporting Shriners Children’s at Feather Sound in Clearwater, Florida. In the final tournament of the PGA Tour Champions 2025 schedule, Team Europe won the Cup, but Jason won the individual award for most points accumulated in his six nine hole rounds and was a crowd favorite. Jason had a huge cheering section including his family- wife, Liz and their girls, Caroline and Julia. No one had more fun at the World Champions Cup than the Caron girls decked in red, white and blue—enthusiastically cheering and waving their USA flags.
Jason will tell you he never could have made this run without his wife, Liz. “She has been super supportive, always.” Jason said. She even decorated a pair of his golf shoes with an American Flag, USA, daughter’s names all in red, white, and blue.

Jason Caron, a native of South Yarmouth on Cape Cod, is head golf professional at Mill River Club in Oyster Bay, New York. He last played on the PGA Tour more than 20 years ago and has been playing on the PGA Tour Champions circuit the last two years, earned the most points throughout the World Champions Cup with 60.5 points, beating Team International top point scorer, Steven Alker, by 1.5 points and Team Europe top scorer, Thomas Bjorn, by 2.5 points.
“I wish this week wouldn’t end,” Caron said. “To be honest, it’s been so much fun to be part of such a great event and such a great team. What can I take away? I guess for me personally it would be like, listen, I can play with all these guys out here. So, I’ll feel confident going into next year that that’s happening. I’d love to be part of a team event like this one again. It really was awesome.”
Jason, born in Hyannis, Massachusetts grew up on Cape Cod, playing golf at local public courses, Bass River, Bayberry Hills and Blue Rock. His dad, Russ, introduced him and his younger brother, Nate, to the game, but it was playing golf as a kid with another raised in South Yarmouth boy, PGA Tour player Jim Hallet that shaped his future plans to play professional golf.

Jason decided to go to Charleston Southern where his top honor in his senior year was Male Athlete of the Year. He played Korn Ferry tour and PGA Tour for 10 years. He met New Englander Elizabeth “Liz” Janangelo in 2008, a very accomplished golfer from Connecticut.
At 13 years old, she won the Connecticut State Women’s Amateur, and from 2003-2006 won four straight. As a junior golfer, Janangelo won eight American Junior Golf Association titles including two major titles. She enrolled at Duke University on a golf scholarship in the fall of 2002 and immediately found success. She was named ACC Rookie of the Year and All-ACC in her first year. In her second year, Janangelo won four tournaments, broke the Duke scoring average record, was named NGCA National Player of the Year, won the Golfstat Cup, and was named ACC Player of the Year. She ended her college career with seven career wins. Liz also played on a Curtis Cup paired with Michelle Wie. Also on the team were Paula Creamer and Brittany Lang.
While still an amateur, Janangelo qualified to play in the U.S. Women’s Open four times, beginning as a 16-year-old in 2000. She finished as high as tied for 30th. Liz played on Futures Tour winning the 2007 Greater Tampa Duramed Futures Classic at Summerfield Crossings. Qualified for the LPGA tour in 2008, played again in 2010. But the traveling life was not for her and decided she was best at teaching golf. She presently is a PGA and LPGA classified professional- impressive!

Jason played mini tour events along with best friend, Brett Quigley. Brett, Brad Faxon, Billy Andrade, Justin Sheehan, all New England guys who stick together and love their Boston teams. Jason, a huge Bruins and Bobby Orr fan, loves talking to them about all the Boston teams. All his New England friends really helped Jason on his journey to the PGA Champions Tour. Along with them, Jim Furyk, and his family the journey was a success.
Besides playing on the tour, Head Pro Jason and Liz run the the Mill River Club in Oyster Bay, New York. That’s their real gig. They have time off early in the year with opening day for golf being May 1. Also, in August and September the course is being aerated and they have some time off. So Jason has the okay from the club to do his thing on the Champions Tour. The Mill River Club is proud of Jason’s performance on the Champions Tour.
Life is good when golf is in it!
